Kristin Carleton
Kristin Carleton, the CEO of All Needs Planning, is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in financial services. Her journey in special needs planning began when her son received his diagnosis when she was 19 weeks pregnant. Recognizing the complex challenges faced by caregivers, Kristin, Mary, and Kathy founded All Needs Planning. They are committed to easing the burden and securing the futures of families with special needs.
Kristin is passionate about serving the community. She is an active member of the boards of GRASP and Gateway Homes. Recently, the Senate of Virginia appointed her to the Commonwealth Savers Board, where she will help expand post-secondary opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Kristin’s commitment to effecting change is evident from her involvement in various initiatives. She is a graduate of Partners in Policymaking, run by the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, and Virginia Leadership in Education for Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (VA-Lend). She is also a member of the Financial Planners Association and the Academy for Special Needs Planners.
Kristin believes in a holistic approach to creating positive change. She focuses on providing customized support to families while also advocating for policy changes at the local, state, and national levels. Her passion and dedication make her a trusted advocate for families with special needs.
Mary McDirmid, ChSNC®, ChFC®
Chief Operations Officer, Financial Advisor
Before helping found All Needs Planning, Mary spent two years as a managing director for the financial firm, MassMutual Northwest in Seattle, Washington. Before that, and for three years concurrently, she ran her own special needs financial planning firm. In addition to her leadership role at All Needs Planning, Mary is also a volunteer advocate for children with rare diseases. She is also the parent of a special needs child.
Dr. Kathy Matthews
Chief Clinical Officer, Family Strategist
Born in Virginia, Kathy holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Columbia University. While living in New York, she worked in Special Education as a teacher and consultant. After that, she returned to Virginia to serve as Executive Director of the Faison Center for Autism. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia, teaching behavior analysis. As the mother of an autistic child, Kathy is proud to be a part of All Needs Planning and enjoys celebrating the successes of the families we support. Away from the office, Kathy enjoys planning new adventures with her two sons.
